Ask Mambu

Ask Mambu is Mambu's built-in, read-only Banking Insights Assistant. Any Mambu user with access can ask questions in plain language and get answers drawn live from Mambu's core, without navigating multiple screens or writing a query. It is configured in Agent Studio. It comes ready to use, with no separate AI provider account to set up.
What Ask Mambu Does
Ask Mambu answers questions about the data held in Mambu's core. It retrieves that data through a read-only connection and explains it clearly. It is built for bank operations, portfolio, and relationship teams, who can get their answers in one place instead of navigating multiple screens. It surfaces information, it does not change it.
What It Can Answer
Ask Mambu comes with six read-only skills:

How It Behaves
- Read-only. It retrieves and explains. It never books, posts, disburses, approves, moves money, or messages. Anything that needs a change is handed back to you, pointed to where it can be done.
- Grounded and cited. Ask Mambu is instructed to answer only from retrieved data, to name its source and how current it is, and to show the working for any figure it computes. If data is missing, it says so rather than guessing.
- Insight, not judgement. It presents facts and observational metrics like arrears ageing. It does not produce credit scores, risk ratings, or approve or deny recommendations.
- Runs as you. Every request runs under the asking user's own Mambu permissions, so Ask Mambu never surfaces data the user could not see in Mambu's core.
- Holds its guardrails. It keeps to its scope under pressure and ignores instructions hidden inside retrieved data. See Governance and Trust.
Configuring Ask Mambu
Ask Mambu is an Agent built by Mambu, which means that its purpose and behavior are predefined and cannot be changed. You can still tailor it in Agent Studio:
- Domain context. Add tenant-specific knowledge such as custom field meanings, preferred language and currency, and your own terminology and product names.
- Skills. Enable or disable the built-in skills, and add your own.
- Knowledge Base. Add your own documents and sources.
- Connections. Set which Mambu MCP operations the agent may use, within what the tenant allows.
- Agent Access. Choose which Mambu Core users can use Ask Mambu.
